Why I’m Not Worried About AI Replacing Me as an Artist

AI is No Threat to True Artistic Talent

Summary

  • I am not worried about AI replacing me as a creative professional, as my passion for creating art is my driving force.
  • The joy of the artistic process is what motivates me and gives me fulfillment in my work.
  • While AI has its uses in certain areas, such as writing, it cannot replicate my unique vision and creativity as an artist.
  • I value traditional tools and techniques in creating art and will continue to cherish them.

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has become an increasingly popular topic in recent years, particularly in the realm of employment. Some individuals fear that AI could potentially replace them in their chosen professions, leaving them jobless and obsolete. However, not everyone feels this way. In fact, some individuals who work in creative fields, such as graphic artists and musicians, feel completely unfazed by the idea of AI taking over their jobs.

One such individual is myself, a graphic artist and musician. I have never felt threatened by the possibility of AI replacing me because I pursued these careers out of a genuine passion for creating art. I enjoy the entire process of making art, from conceptualizing an idea to executing it with my own hands. While there may be people out there who are better, faster, and more popular than I am, that has never deterred me from doing what I love. I am confident in my abilities as an artist and in my unique vision, which cannot be replicated by a machine.

Of course, AI does have its benefits. It can help people create art, and for some individuals, that may be all they need. However, for me, the joy of creating art comes not only from the finished product, but also from the process itself. I cherish my pen, my paper, and the traditional software that I use to make art piece-by-piece. Being there in every step of the process, from the initial sketch to the final touches, is what makes creating art so rewarding for me.

That being said, there is one area in which I am more than happy to utilize AI, and that is in writing. While I value the precision and artistry of choosing my words carefully, what is most important to me is successfully conveying my ideas to others. If AI can help me do that more effectively, then I am more than happy to use it.

So, while some may fear the rise of AI and the potential threat it poses to employment, as a creative professional, I am not one of them. My passion for creating art and the joy it brings me cannot be replaced by a machine. While AI may have its uses, I will always cherish the traditional tools and processes that I use to create art — art which I can truly call mine.

Full disclosure: I wrote this post with the help of ChatGPT. ChatGPT helps me flesh out ideas and deliver them in the clearest way possible all in a shorter amount of time. Having said that, I remain fully responsible for what has been written and the specific ways that they have been expressed in this article. I strongly discourage the use of ChatGPT in school or in any other formal or academic contexts.
